Internet Explorer 8 Officially Launch
How’s your weekend? Enjoy? Well I hope you enjoy your weekends as much as I do but not as good when driving back to KL, as you might know that how long the jam was. ![]()
Recently Microsoft had launch their full release of Internet Explorer 8 on 20th April last month (if I’m not mistaken). Being a big fan of Firefox and had been using it since long time ago, I still don’t feel like switching browser anytime soon, especially if it’s Internet Explorer…Well when I visit their site, Microsoft is promoting their latest installment of IE 8 and with the word “Upgrade your Internet experience“, I decided to give IE8 a shot and downloaded the installation package at 16.1MB. So let’s see how does IE8 upgrade my internet experience. ![]()
The installation is quite straight forward and with some errors…
So it can’t check my system for any malicious software, well…that’s ok for me.
It also provide options to install Silverlight and MSN Toolbar, Google Toolbar is still my preference hence I omitted to install MSN toolbar. Yes, IE8 finally installed and this is the nicest things I have been seeing each time I install IE browsers.
Why? It’s just a new browser and why we still need to restart after installation? Quite annoying having running so much apps that time, well I choose restart later. Then I try to launch IE 8 and check if it has been updated, well I get bunch of errors hen starting it…
Yup still under IE7, so I reluctantly restarted my system. Waited anxiously to get hold of the IE8 and to “upgrade my internet experience”.
So I try to login to eBay and highlight Apple andclick on the pop-up icon and select the shop items, a box pop up magnificently just like the intro in Microsoft homepage. But mine is a bit different, it show “page cannot be displayed“!! Hmm…izzit something i did wrong? Tried with other links…hm…page cannot be display again. I try Diagnose Connection Problems because the error said that I do not have internet connection, test connectino pass without problem. I still can browse many other sites, just when I try to use the built in acceleration, it failed. I have upgraded my internet experience! ![]()
One more thing to note, if you are a web site designer or programmer and you have multiple IE installed, it will crashed and won’t work poperly. Thanks for my colleague’s information. ![]()
Well the whole experience in getting IE8 working is giving my a headache, but it could be my system problem that I did not restart as was told and end up screwing up IE8. I have installed IE8 on my home vista machine and it works perfectly, the best thing I found quite useful is their map location. Where you highlight the address and it will show you the Live search map from Microsoft. But it would be much better if it’s in Google map. ![]()
Beside that it also have a small built in Vista like preview tabs, which you can activate it by clicking on the icon on the left of the first tab window. Beside that if you are a Windows Live blogger, you may easily highlight a paragraph and blog it instantly. It will be treated as quotes, simple with just few clicks. But it won’t work for Wordpress or blogspot..
After using it for a while, I still prefer firefox instead of IE8. Being taken away the mouse gesture, quick drag and click switching plugins by IE8 is not up to my taste yet. Bur overal it is quite user friendly and much easier to use. On web sites layout, I think IE8 had made quite some improvement, I haven’t seen any websites layout being peel off yet.
So have you tried IE8 and did it upgrade your internet experience? ![]()

[...] Internet Explorer 8 InPrivate mode or Google Chrome Incognito mode both allow users to browse the web anonymously. This is good if you are browsing from public computers, the pages you visit won’t appear in your browser history or search history, and they won’t leave other traces like cookies on the computer. Well it is Firefox too have implemented it on their latest version. You can go to Tools -> Start Private Browsing or by pressing the hotkey Ctrl+Shift+P to start it. If you have few tabs open in the normal mode, Firefox will save your session and then close it to start private browsing mode. [...]
