Hi All, sorry for the lack of posts this month as I am on business trip to Philippines. The hotel that I’m staying does not provide internet connection. Took a 2 days to look for the local broadband service. I found that their local SUN Cellular is having a prepaid broadband wireless.

This is just a short post to show you how fast the local broadband are and they are already using 3.5G. The starter pack cost P100 (It’s around RM1=13.2 Peso) and comes with 5 hours of free online time.

The speed test turns out amazing! A download speed of 1.86MB/s, 5MB of MP3 files can be downloaded in 22 seconds. The first day usage of the SUN broadband was satisfying, the credit or 5 hours of usage time up. I got a top up of P300 with 24 hours of online time valid for the next 10 days. There is no limit capped written on the manual.

However things does goes smooth after the top up, I could not get online yesterday the whole day. No signal was captured. And today, took me around 30mins to have it connect. Guess line was not stable after all.

The broadband sim pack came with a USB modem which cost around P1895. But if your mobile phone is 3G supported, then u can get the sim card only and use your phone as a modem. So if you are visiting Philippines and need to get online and your place is somewhere near Metro Manila, SUN broadband wireless is your best choice.

He did it again in a row! The same guy from the previous post if you are still wondering. Well he is into digital drawing and had been an avid user of Wacom Intuos Series. This time Wacom came out the latest Intuos 4 model. With the sensitivity had increase doubled for the older versions.

Below are the packaging for the intuos4 box.

Intuos 4 stylus…

This is the stylus holder, it does not act just an ordinary holder but a place holder for the stylus pens (not sure what its called, but you get the idea with the pic below)

My friend told me that Wacom is quite stingy on the extra pens but this time they gave out 10 of them with different types to have their mouth shut. haha…

This is the smallest sizes from the series, it’s about 6 x 4″. Comfortably place on the computer table. I’m not too familiar with the tool, you might want to check out his blog for further information at Joshfly.com. Oh ya, anyone interest in the Intuos 3 series model? It’s 9 x 12 ” and 5 years old. I will be putting up for sale and do let me know if you are interested, he is selling RM800 and negotiable. Preferable COD.

If you are wondering which other monitors are compatible for playstation 3 except the BenQ E2200HD, well here is another one cortesy from my dearest friend Joshua. He just bought this ViewSonic VX2433wm the other day with the price tag of RM690.

It comes with a HDMI, DVI, S-SUB (VGA) and audio ports. The audio cable are included but not the HDMI cable (as always).

The side menus are not labeled , it’s quite difficult to adjust the display or to switch in between inputs. But once you get the hand of it, it will be easy.

Overall the ViewSonic VX2433wm provide 1080 Full HD support and the display looks awesome. Other features that you might consider this unit is the 2ms Fast Response and the SRS WOW HD Sound! The sound fills the room and you can enjoy panoramic three-dimensional audio experience but to a low requency bass performance (You will need to install the WOW software provided). Much better than BenQ E2200HD. Others are Eco-mode which I believe should be environmental friendly and power saver.

The dimension for the monitor is 22.52″W x 16.46″H x 9.09″D and weight around 5kg (11 lb.). My friend is very happy with his new machine and enjoying it at the very moment now …All thanks to my evil plan (there’s stories behind this…)

It’s finally here! If you always wanted to get hold of Alienware products, this is your chance now. The Alienware M17x system is available for grab from DELL Malaysia. You have 3 colors to choose from, Space Black, Saucer Silver or Nebula Red. But this gonna put a whole in your pocket.

Specifications:

Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Quad Processor Q9000 (2GHz/ 1066 FSB/ 6MB Cache)

17.0 ” Beyond HD 1200p WUXGA (1920×1200) CCFL Display with TrueLife TM

Genuine Windows Vista(R) Home Premium 64-bit SP1 Edition

4GB Dual-channel 1067MHz DDR3 SDRAM (2 x 2GB)

500GB 7200RPM SATA RAID 1 (2 x 500GB)

8X DVD + /-RW Drive with DVD + R double layer write capability

Single 1GB GDDR3 NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) GTX 260M

Dell Wireless 1510 802.11n Half Mini-Card (MY)

McAfee(R) Security Center(TM) – 15 Months OEM

Another cool feature is that you can pre-customize it by selecting your own Alienware avatar, Windows Color themes, Wallpapers and even mouse pointer! Hm…I think it’s not necessary because you can manually change it later. The package come with 1-year Premier Service with 1-year CompleteCover warranty.

With all these comes with a pricey tag, RM8607 and it does not include a carrying bag. Guess you need to spend extra bucks once you got your playmate. If you are a hard core gamer, you could really enjoy it on its 12″ display. The laptop weight 5.3kg (It could get heavier if you get higher package)

Here are the dimensions:

Height: 51.31mm to 53.59mm (2.02 inches to 2.11 inches) – Front to Back

Width: 405.89mm (15.98 inches)

Depth: 321.31mm (12.65 inches)

So would you afford a near to 10k laptop? Hm…well it’s one of the kind that you will feel cool when bringing in to public, but not for me. I could really put some good use for the 10k…

If you have read my previous post on E-Gen 400 UPS or E-Gen 400 UPS Produced 5 hours battery life, you probably know how does it look like. Well recently I notice that the battery LED does not lid when it is turn on. The fan is inside the box is not spinning too. The E-Gen 400 looks more quit than it should be. From the manual if the green LED does not lid, this means that the battery is not charging.

So what went wrong?

It turns out to be the fuse is burnt, you can see below how the fuse got burnt. Black or burnt are clearly seen on the side of it.

Where is the fuse located? You can take out the fuse from the AC connector zone, just below it. Use a screw driver to push it out as shown in the picture.

It will look like this, all you need to do is to pull it out and replace a new one.

This is how a typical good fuse looks like, you can get it in more of the electrical shop. Cost just a few 30-50 cents. You can see that there should be a thin line floating across the fuse as compare to the burnt one.

So that’s how you change an E-Gen 400 UPS fuse. You can read more about it on my previous post E-Gen 400 UPS.

I got it from the Curve Sony Style center and the sales person are really helpful, tested my unit and showed how to operate it properly.

You can see that the PS3 sits nicely on my computer table, just side by side with my monitor and speakers.

I’m using the HDMI 1.3a version with the BenQ monitor. By default, the Playstation box does not come with a HDMI cable. But only the HDMI-to-RCA cable (Red,Yellow & White cables? familiar?) Hence I need to purchase the HDMI cable with cost me RM112 after discount.

Here I connect it to the BenQ monitor, there are 2 ports available here. HIDMI, DVI and standard VGA port. Neat! You can read my previous post on BENQ E2200HD Full HD.

Before you can start using it, you will need to select the type of input from the monitor. Press on the enter button as shown below to switch to HDMI input.

So off I go to play my first game, insert Blu-ray Disc of the game Ninja Gaiden Sigma. Hmm…strange…arr…the sound output from the BenQ monitor is too soft, you can hear the music properly even if you turn the volume to 100%!!

There goes my digital entertaiment…without sound…hey but wait, I remember that the site of the monitor does have earphone output.

Yup, all you need to do is to find an audio cable to plug it into your sound system. (The audio cable should have come in a box with your BenQ E2200HD).

Boom! My sound system is ready to kick some Ninjas ass!

Oh before you kick some ninja ass, you need to make sure your wireless controlelr is connected to your PS3. By pressing the PS logo on the joystick it will lid the no. 1. Total up to 4 controllers can be connected at one time. But before you can start to use it, you need to charge it for atleast 6 hours and can stand up to 3 days of gaming. As per the sales person advise. Cool.

These are the games that came along with the Playstation 3 package.

My friend Joshua is Twilight friend, bought the Twilight Blu-ray disc for collection. We have tested and all I can say is that Playstation 3 is as good as your Blu-ray players. If you can’t afford a Blu-ray player, get a Playstation 3.

As I have mention earlier, HDMI cable has a few version and each of the increase version have add on features. I will discuss this in my coming posts and you can find more information from here. That’s all for now folks, it’s gaming time!
